When it hit in August, 2005, hurricane Katrina left the US
Gulf Coast in a state of devastation. Since then, the residents
and civic leaders in the impacted areas have shown tremendous
resilience in restoring their communities. However, there
is much yet to be done. The storm and the following recovery
effort have produced a stifling amount of waste that has yet
to be moved to a permanent disposal facility.
ReDeux Solutions is working in concert with disposal experts
at Dewpoint Environmental, Inc. to propose a plan to the State
of Louisiana to remove storm waste from the New Orleans area,
through the use of local contractors, and transport it, with
minimal impact to the transportation infrastructure, to certified
disposal facilities that offer minimal environmental effect.
